AsiaNanoTech's Eco-Friendly Wildfire Retardant FireZip Adopted by Korea National Park Service… A Signal for Replacing Chemical Products

Newswire · 2025.12.14

AsiaNanoTech announced that the Korea National Park Service (KNPS) will adopt its eco-friendly wildfire retardant FireZip. The supply contract was signed in November 2025, and the product will be used in a pilot project at Juwangsan National Park in North Gyeongsang Province, which was hit by a large wildfire in early 2025.

This is the first time KNPS has selected an eco-friendly wildfire retardant for its own pilot project. Unlike typical restoration that focuses on removing damaged trees, KNPS follows a "minimal intervention" principle that lets ecosystems recover on their own, and FireZip was chosen as a product that fits this approach.

Made from 100% naturally derived ingredients, FireZip is biodegradable and combines fire-retarding and suppression functions with restoration benefits that improve soil cohesion and water retention. CEO Jin-won Bok said it is more than twice as efficient as chemical products at about a quarter of the cost, adding that FireZip will set a new standard as a "K-Retardant."

Potential customers include the Korea Forest Service, wildfire-prone provinces such as Gangwon and Gyeongbuk, and agencies managing national key facilities such as cultural heritage sites and transmission towers. Tightening environmental regulations on chemical retardants in high-risk regions such as California and Australia also point to overseas opportunities.
