AsiaNanoTech Launches FireZip, a 100% Biodegradable Wildfire Retardant… Over 200% More Efficient than Chemical Agents
KMS News · 2025.08.18
AsiaNanoTech has officially launched FireZip, a biodegradable wildfire retardant made from naturally derived bio-materials. It was developed to reduce the secondary soil and water pollution left behind by conventional chemical retardants, and covers fire suppression, spread delay, prevention and soil restoration in a single product.
The product applies AsiaNanoTech's U.S.-patented 3D mesh nanocellulose manufacturing technology, and a related Korean patent was granted in July 2024. In biodegradation tests it broke down 89% within 28 days and 93.7% within 130 days, and full biodegradation within 45 days was observed under certain conditions.
Diluted in water at 0.5% or less, it can be sprayed from helicopters, fire trucks or personal firefighting equipment. One 20 kg bag makes up to 4,000 L of solution, which the company says is more than twice as cost-efficient as conventional chemical agents.
FireZip has been registered as an Innovative Product by the Public Procurement Service, allowing public bodies such as the Korea Forest Service, the National Fire Agency and local governments to adopt it on a priority basis.
